We offer our customers a unique opportunity to have an attic stairs made to suit their home. We are the only manufacturers of attic stairs that realise that not all homes have the space or ability to change their trapdoor or are restricted by the design of the home, especially older houses that may have heritage orders on them.

Many unique self built homes or older Georgian homes have high ceilings and where designed with style and comfortable living in mind but when it comes to utilising the attic space people find that there is no way other than a slide ladder to get into the attic thanks to that 12-foot high ceiling. We can custom build a Stira so you will have safe, convenient access to that attic.

If you are restricted in the minimum opening length somewhat, we may still be able to provide a solution. As the Stira is a three piece ladder the opening length has to be roughly one third or more (absolute minimum length on an 8ft Stira is 39in) of the ceiling height. To combat this problem we have designed a double action stairs that enables us to reduce the opening length slightly, however this means the ladder would protrude slightly into the attic space.

As a last resort we can make a clip-on stairs for our customers who are seriously restricted and cannot alter the opening space enough to install even a double action stairs. This is a fold up ladder made from our heavy duty stairs however it does not fold up into the attic and must be stored downstairs, this was recently installed in Áras an Uachtaráin (Residence of the Irish president), the house had a heritage order on it and the opening could not be altered in any way.
